Having always been fascinated by the vicissitudes of the financial markets, Simon was employed as a Structured Credit Trader at Barclays investment bank. In his role, he was involved in the origination and risk management of credit-linked structured investments such as Credit Linked Notes, Bond Repackaged Notes, Convertible Bond Repacks, Credit Skew Notes and Hybrid Notes
Previously, he spent ten weeks as a summer analyst in the treasury trading desk of the same British bank where he gained exposure to money market instruments, interest rate derivatives, forex derivatives and bonds. He was also in the equity structured products advisory desk at Bank of Singapore, one of Asia’s fastest growing private banks. During that time, he had the opportunity to learn how financial derivatives can be used to structure exotic investment products such as Bonus Enhanced Notes, Equity Linked Notes, Accumulators, Autocallables and Shark Fin Notes.

Simon graduated with a BBA (Highest Distinction) from the National University of Singapore. He was a director of the NUS Business Analytics Society, in which he oversaw the establishment and operations of Wolf Pack, a student-led initiative to impart VBA, Tableau and R knowledge to part of the school population for them to conceptualize and complete their own personal projects. He also taught VBA and Excel courses to the school’s undergraduate population.
In his free time, he enjoys performing magic illusions, reading about everything under the sun and playing poker. He was the President of the NUS Magic Society and is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
